The concept of force multipliers stems from military science and is applied in diverse areas, including weather, morale, and technology.
I use the word in digital transformation when the intersection of culture, process, and technology creates an accelerant for organizations pursuing their vision statements and digital strategies.
But what is it about the intersection that creates the accelerant? Accelerating digital transformation requires transformation leaders to
- Drive smarter, faster, safer, and innovative transformation. Overbalance to one dimension, and the tradeoffs often create an organizational debt.
- Explain the why behind the transformational goals, set reasonable priorities, and define meaningful KPIs.
- Empower teams to self-organize but with operating standards on how work gets done
- Fund the nimble platforms, partners, and data practices to backbone innovation efforts.
I've started a series of force multiplier cocktails on my YouTube channel, 5 Minutes with @NYIke. Here is the first episode, and the second one on how agile practices are a digital transformation force multiplier is already published.
